Experience the peaceful charm of Obergurgl, tucked away in the majestic Ötztal Alps. Surrounded by 21 snow-capped peaks towering over three thousand meters, this breathtaking destination is a haven for ski aficionados. With snow guaranteed from mid-November till April’s end, meticulously groomed slopes spanning 112 kilometers, and top-notch ski lifts, Obergurgl is known as the “Gem of the Alps.” It not only caters to ski enthusiasts but also offers a range of activities for luxury seekers all year round.
Hotel Edelweiss & Gurgl, the most historic hotel in Obergurgl, underwent an extensive renovation in the winter of 2020, breathing new life into its illustrious past. The rooms and suites have been elegantly modernized, now exuding a fresh alpine charm and warmth. During our stay, we relished the spaciousness of the Edelweiss Suite, easily accommodating our family of four. The suite’s design, with sliding doors between living and sleeping areas, along with high-quality furnishings, enhanced our comfort. Moreover, the dual balconies treated us to sweeping views of the snow-draped peaks.
The hotel won us over with thoughtful gestures such as welcome chocolates and complimentary bottled water upon our arrival. Luxurious bathrobes, plush slippers, and premium toiletries added an extra layer of comfort to our stay.
Guests can dine at two exquisite restaurants within the hotel: the renowned À La Carte Restaurant and the enchanting Fondue room under a glass dome. The À La Carte restaurant offers a menu inspired by seasonal produce, much of it locally sourced. The refined ambiance, coupled with attentive service, made dining an unforgettable experience. Every evening, the four-course menu delighted us with a tantalizing array of dishes.
Indulge in the opulent Glacier Spa at the hotel, featuring a wellness and beauty area that promises relaxation. The adult-only section includes saunas, a steam room, and a whirlpool. Guests can also experience a variety of rejuvenating treatments using the nourishing Kurland product range.
For leisure, the hotel boasts two heated pools – one indoors and one outdoors. Our children relished swimming outdoors while soaking in the mesmerizing mountain panoramas. The newly built E&G gym houses cutting-edge cardio and strength-training equipment, perfect for fitness enthusiasts. Additionally, the well-equipped Edelweiss Kids’ Club kept our children entertained, with the hotel organizing a magic show for them.
Our sojourn at Hotel Edelweiss & Gurgl was truly enchanting. From the revamped rooms to the exquisite dining choices and lavish spa amenities, it stood out as the perfect haven for a luxurious mountain retreat.
