W Scottsdale Presents Fresh Enhanced Rooms & Tranquil Retreats Perfect For Weekends

The trendy metropolitan W Scottsdale offers both a peaceful refuge and a lively array of lounges and pool gatherings.

Nestled in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale’s Entertainment District, the hotel lobby showcases unique art displays and sculptures, a spacious cocktail lounge and a grand staircase leading up to another bar overlooking the WET Pool Deck and cabanas. Guests can choose to stay in one of the hotel’s 241 newly renovated rooms and suites ranging from 620 to 1,540 square feet.

As guests step into the elevator, they are greeted with flashing lights and music. The WOW suites are lavish and roomy with floor-to-ceiling glass windows, a modern window shade system throughout the suite, hardwood floors, a spacious kitchen equipped with contemporary appliances and cookware, and a mobile bar cart.

The 44 suites offer views of Camelback Mountain or the hotel’s WET pool deck and neighboring garden, private balconies, generous walk-in closets, a luxurious floating Marriott W bed with soft cotton sheets and a feather duvet, sumptuous rain showers, pampering Momo shampoo and conditioners, and expansive vanity areas. The two-bedroom suites also feature a smaller entry bathroom as well as an additional second bedroom and bathroom. Moreover, there is a commodious dining table and an adjoining open living room providing ample space to relax and enjoy the vistas.

Designed by Stockdale Design, the WOW suites are adorned with red, brown, and blue accents in a mid-century modern style. The WOW suite I occupied showcased a gigantic bunny head, martini glasses, and contemporary artwork in the kitchen and bedrooms.

The second level of the hotel boasts the WET Pool Deck, a venue accessible 24 hours a day that features a DJ from noon to 6 pm on weekends. The pool is equipped with underwater music and lights.

Guests can indulge in unique cocktails and music in the dynamic Living Room Lounge or Cottontail Café & Lounge, or visit the sophisticated Donabe, a Japanese Steakhouse operated by Alliance Hospitality Group. The intimate restaurant includes large modern light fixtures, wooden tables and accents, booth seating, and expansive windows with views of the pool deck. Suspended above is a curved skylight with a contemporary light sculpture, offering a glimpse of large modern murals depicting women adorned with cacti sprouting from their heads.

The appetizers menu features duck fried rice, Vietnamese pork ribs, shishito peppers, crispy rock shrimp with eel mayo, oysters, Toro tartare, a lobster roll, caviar, and delightful Parkerhouse rolls. Various sushi options and unique rolls are available, such as the Handlebar with A5 Wagyu, lobster tempura, asparagus, and wasabi aioli caviar for $58, and the more budget-friendly Hachi Maki with kaiware, cucumber, avocado, and kamahi Asian pear. The Dawa Want includes spicy king salmon, cucumber, salmon serrano, and jalapeno ponzu, while the King Crab Roll offers baked king crab, Fresno lemon aioli, avocado, and cilantro. Main courses range from filet with potato puree to Wagyu ribeye with glazed carrots and shiso chimichurri, Ora king salmon with baby bok choy, and a highly recommended Wagyu cheeseburger with black truffle mayo and haystack fries. Steak enthusiasts can opt for their Wagyu hot stone, Japanese A5 Miyazaki New York Strip, and Miyazaki Wagyu lettuce cups. Specialty cocktails include the Purple Rain with tequila, mezcal joven, lime, hibiscus, and pineapple; the Japanese blackberry smash with whisky, blackberry, St-Germain, and pomegranate liqueur; and the Saturn with Japanese gin, strawberry, falernum orgeat, lime, and coconut passionfruit.

Donabe also offers an exceptional breakfast menu featuring a huevos rancheros burrito, eggs benedict with lobster, whitelily biscuits and smoked hamhock gravy, and a coconut chia breakfast pudding.

The AWAY Spa, located on the lobby level, houses a juice bar and a wide range of facials, massages, body masks, and mani pedi packages. Guests can also take advantage of hair styling and makeup services at the spa.

It’s easy to spend an entire weekend at the hotel, but if you wish to venture out, the prime location makes it easy to stroll to numerous Old Town restaurants and nightclubs, take a leisurely walk along the waterfront area, or indulge in a shopping spree at the Fashion Square Mall.
