Castle Grove Country House in Donegal, Ireland has been a residence for almost 400 years and was purchased by Mary and Raymond Sweeney in 1989.
With 12 Georgian-style rooms, the house is popular with people of all ages and is even used as a wedding venue. The country house is surrounded by lush greenery, and guests can relax on Queen Anne armchairs before a crackling log fire. The inviting parlour boasts a white marble fireplace, Waterford crystal chandelier, 19th century framed paintings and various brass artefacts.
The spacious dining room serves classic Irish cuisine with fresh ingredients from the nearby walled garden. Guests can enjoy dishes like homemade tortellini in tomato sauce mixed with green peas, breaded fish tail, and slow roasted Irish beef with Yorkshire pudding.
Several desserts are on offer including Tunisian-style orange cake and cheesecake, but the standout option is the sticky toffee pudding with sea salted caramel sauce and vanilla ice-cream. Guests can meander outside near the country lane leading to the main road to relax on chairs situated outside the main door.
