Ask any renowned food connoisseur to name the top festivals in the world of cuisine. Chances are, they will mention the Pebble Beach Gastronomy and Wine Festival.
This event brings together notable figures such as Geoffrey Zakarian, Maneet Chauhan, Nancy Silverton, Jonathan Waxman, and Marc Murphy—just to name a few luminaries. With over 125 respected chefs from across the country and more than 175 celebrated wineries and beverage producers from around the globe, this festival creates a unique celebration of gastronomy, wine, and culinary arts.
Featuring a diverse selection of exceptional lunches, dinners, seminars, and presentations, one of the highlights of the festival is the “Grand Tastings” on the first night and on Saturday and Sunday. These gatherings allow guests to savor a wide range of culinary delights and beverages while mingling with the culinary experts who showcase their innovations at these inclusive events.
As the bagpipes fill the air with jovial tunes at dusk and live jazz sets the mood for a leisurely meal, the Gala Opening Night Extravaganza on Thursday, themed “Coast to Coast with James Beard,” greeted participants with champagne toasts from Louis Roederer.
Famed Chef and Gala Host, Nancy Silverton, delighted attendees with her delightful Lemon Posset, an English dessert resembling pudding made without eggs, adorned with freshly sliced strawberries and a glaze of pomegranate molasses.
In addition, Iron Chef Stephanie Izard’s Glazed Beef Short Ribs, Pineapple, and Sweet Potato Noodles showcased a masterful exhibition of exquisite dining.
Our Friday began with a presentation titled “D2 Retrospective”, highlighting the best of their Columbia Valley red blends paired with a handpicked selection of international cheeses by Kent Tory from The Cheese Shop, renowned for its impeccable variety and quality.
Friday’s activities included a “Champagne Social Happy Hour” at the Inn at Spanish Bay, featuring a variety of appetizers prepared by The h.Wood Group of Restaurants and paired with different Champagnes. Notable was chef Geo Ketchedjian’s Steak Tartare, Oysters Rockefeller, and Truffled Grilled Cheese, executed with timeless perfection.
The evening on Friday culminated at The Beach and Tennis Club with a “California Coastal Pacific Feast,” hosted by Jeremiah Towers, set against the backdrop of the breathtaking sunset along the coastline.
Chefs showcased a tantalizing selection of savory treats spotlighting the bounty of the state. Opulent bites included Michael Chang’s Smoked Monterey Bay Black Cod & Seaweed Salad.
Also on display was Michael Rotondo’s Grilled Pacific Oysters.
Saturday morning featured an extraordinary “Effervescent Indulgence” with a Champagne and Caviar Pairing Seminar, indulging in vintage Brut and Rosé champagnes from Charles Heidsieck, Piper-Heidsieck, and Rare Champagne, each harmonized with premium caviar from Antonius Caviar.
The flagship “Grand Tasting” events on Saturday and Sunday afternoons served as the perfect opportunity to explore the diverse offerings at the Pebble Beach Gastronomy and Wine Festival.
Danny Grant’s Wagyu Beef Carpaccio received accolades from the audience.
During the same occasion, Marc Murphy delighted his fans from the culinary network with his signature spice blend Surf n’ Turf Roasted Salmon.
Saturday’s Happy Hour transported guests to the oceanfront fire pits of The Inn at Spanish Bay for “Burgers, Bourbon, and Bordeaux.” Each bite outshined the previous one, with standout burgers including Alvin Cailan’s Kara Kare Chili Burger.
Another standout was Anna Marie Bayonito’s Wagyu Burger.
Saturday evening concluded with a remarkable tasting affair named “From the Cellar: A Michelin-Star Showcase,” featuring a range of exquisite creations from Michelin-starred and World’s 50 Best Chefs, paired with large format and vintage bottles, including magnum pours from Raymond Generations Cabernet Sauvignon Napa California Wine, courtesy of owner Jean-Charles Boisset.
Chris Barnum-Dann’s Caviar and Cauliflower dish delivered an exceptional gourmet experience at this event.
