Land Rover is exploring uncharted territory with its forthcoming Defender model, which will showcase an innovative “6D Dynamics” suspension system and a twin-turbo V-8 engine with electrification.
The legendary Defender lineup is renowned for its off-road capabilities, but the fresh Defender OCTA aims to set a higher standard, vowing to be the most resilient, efficient, and opulent Defender vehicle to date. Scheduled to be launched later this year, the OCTA will come equipped with an electrified twin-turbo V-8 powertrain and will display Land Rover’s advanced 6D Dynamics air suspension, crafted to boost steadiness in demanding off-road environments with characteristics like hydraulic interlinked dampers and adjustable air springs.
Though details regarding trim options and comprehensive engine specifications are still undisclosed, enthusiasts can look forward to exceptional performance from the OCTA. With the current Defender 110 boasting 518 horsepower and speculation pointing towards a shared engine with the 2024 Range Rover Sport SV, the OCTA is set to enthrall both existing and potential Defender admirers.
Sneak peeks revealed by JLR provide a sneak peek of the unique encircled diamond pattern that will embellish various interior and exterior components of the vehicle. Mark Cameron, the Managing Director, elucidates that this emblem symbolizes the Defender’s attributes of power, durability, and allure.
Prior to its official premiere, potential buyers will get the opportunity to engage in exclusive previews as part of the global Defender Elements series. Meanwhile, the OCTA will undergo extensive testing across varied terrains, including Sweden, Moab, Dubai, and the Nürburgring.
