Renowned performer Joaquin Phoenix, along with his partner, thespian Rooney Mara, are set to exhibit their artistic talents in a unique joint endeavor at the forthcoming 47th Annual Artexpo New York. They have teamed up with the non-governmental organization Preserve the Chimps to present a series of paintings co-created by 16 adept primates from the sanctuary. The collection, titled “The Joaquin Phoenix & Rooney Mara Preserve The Chimps Collection,” features 16 acrylic-on-canvas artworks priced between $5,000 and $10,000.
This cooperative project involving Phoenix, Mara, and the chimpanzee artists aims to raise funds for Preserve the Chimps, a retirement abode for chimpanzees in Florida. These artworks, merging foundational layers by the prominent duo with the unique brushstrokes of the primate artists, will be on display at Pier 36 in Manhattan. Esteemed art aficionados such as Pink, Sir Paul McCartney, and Pamela Anderson extend their support to Preserve The Chimps.
In a collective declaration, Phoenix and Mara stressed their hope that the artworks will raise awareness about the intellect and ingenuity of chimpanzees. The debut collection, presented by Redwood Art Group, is anticipated to appreciate in value due to the escalating demand for celebrity art pieces. Furthermore, FedEx Cares has graciously sponsored the transportation of the artworks for the exhibition.
Artexpo New York, a distinguished event in the arts sector, will host this unique collection from April 4-7. The event will offer attendees the chance not only to acquire a signed piece from the celebrity duo but also to visit the sanctuary and engage with the chimpanzee artists in the flesh. With over 200 publishers, galleries, and collectors expected to attend, Artexpo New York ensures a vast selection of artworks for art enthusiasts to savor.
