Rising to fame after his appearance as a competitor on Season 6 of ‘Supermarket Stakeout’ on Food Network, hosted by the esteemed chef and Food Network personality Alex Guarnaschelli, Chef Johnathan is a culinary master.

    With nearly two decades of experience in demanding culinary environments, Chef Johnathan embarked on his culinary journey as a dishwasher at a Hilton establishment in New York. Progressing steadily, he honed his skills working alongside seasoned chefs on the kitchen line. His journey led him to Florida, where he gained valuable experience at prestigious restaurants, including Operational Sous Chef at Walt Disney World’s Swan & Dolphin.

    Having worked at esteemed establishments such as French Laundry in Yountville, Ca, and as the Executive Chef at Sea Salt in St. Pete, Chef Johnathan has also catered as a private chef for distinguished personalities like President Obama, Donald Trump, Eric, and Lara Trump in upscale venues.

    Among Chef Johnathan’s accolades are the prestigious Best Chef Award at the Savor St. Pete Food & Wine Festival in 2022 and 2023, as well as recognitions like Taste of Clearwater and the Chef Inspired Award.

    Atop the dual branded Aloft Tampa Midtown Hotel and Element by Westin Hotel, Chef Johnathan takes the helm of culinary operations as the Executive Chef and Food and Beverage Director at Sal Y Mar restaurant on the 7th floor. Nestled in Tampa’s dynamic Midtown shopping and dining district, Sal Y Mar offers an inviting atmosphere as the sun sets and night unfolds.

    Firm in his belief in manifesting dreams into reality, Chef Johnathan blends his diverse culinary expertise into Sal Y Mar’s menu, incorporating flavors from Italian, Spanish, French, Mediterranean, Puerto Rican, and American cuisines.

    A favorite among guests is Chef Johnathan’s award-winning Tuna Tataki, acclaimed during both brunch and dinner. The dish features fresh ahi tuna on crispy wonton rounds topped with pickled ginger, wasabi aioli, soy caviar, and a blend of black and white sesame seeds.

    Sal Y Mar’s brunch menu also features a mouthwatering Cuban sandwich packed with salami, ham, pulled pork, pickles, melted swiss cheese, and Dijon Aioli between slices of bread. Additionally, a Guf Grouper sandwich on a soft brioche bun, served with pina salsa verde, raw red onions, spinach, and chipotle crema, complements the offerings.

    During dinner, guests savor Chef Johnathan’s Deconstructed Paella with saffron risotto, chorizo, manchego cheese, shrimp, mussels, and scallops. Another highlight is the seared salmon with vegetable couscous, sweet corn coulis, and cilantro beurre blanc.

    For meat lovers, the Sal Y Mar Tomahawk Experience showcases a splendid 32 to 34-ounce Tomahawk steak, seasoned with Maldon salt, truffle oil, chimichurri sauce, and a choice of two sides such as sauteed broccolini, street corn yucca mash, and tostones.

    The contemporary design of Aloft Tampa Midtown Hotel offers loft-style accommodations with cozy beds draped in crisp white linens and luxurious foam pillows.
