At times, we rarely possess an extra £1.25 million floating in our wallets here at The Status Life. However, if we ever do, we’d probably invest it in something as breathtaking as this 1968 Lamborghini Miura P400 By Bertone, which is going up for auction at RM Sotheby’s St Moritz. This is undeniably the ground-breaking first contemporary supercar and is showcased in an exceptionally pristine condition – hence the staggering price tag.
Leaving the factory on 4 March 1968, this astonishing Miura bears production no. 135 and journeyed a short distance to Milan for delivery to Mr. Bongiasca through Lamborghini dealer Lamborcar. By 1998, it had found its home in California, under the care of Donald Sullivan. In early 2009, it was offered for sale, fitted with a Chevrolet V-8 and a ZF transaxle, believed to have been taken from an unfortunate De Tomaso Mangusta. Shortly after, it was exported to Sweden where the new owner commenced a meticulous restoration, leaving no detail overlooked in restoring it to its former glory, including the installation of a correct specification Miura P400 drivetrain.
