Without a doubt, one of the supreme pleasures of summer is dining al fresco.
It becomes even more enchanting when the restaurant offers a breathtaking coastal vista from a dockside terrace.
This is exactly what The Beth Kitchen & Bar in Hingham, Massachusetts provides.
Nestled in the Hingham Shipyard with views over Hingham Bay around 30 minutes south of Boston, this waterside spot boasts some of the finest views on the South Shore. Whether you come in the summer to enjoy live music or choose to hang out at the bar after a day of retail therapy at the nearby shops in the chillier months, The Beth has become a perennial favorite among the locals.
We recommend starting off with one of their inventive drinks. Choose from specialties like a mule concocted with peach iced tea or white sangria blended with watermelon.
The service may be at times slow, but the kitchen consistently serves up delicious fare. They offer a delightful selection of fresh and chilled options, including a zesty tuna sushi roll, volcano roll, shrimp tempura roll, and tuna poke nachos.
Be sure to try their New England clam chowder, a delightful mix of fresh clams and potato chunks in a not too thick creamy broth served with a packet of oyster crackers.
If you’re here for drinks and a shared starter, consider the pretzels paired with bacon beer cheese; fish tacos brimming with blackened haddock; Japanese-style sticky ribs with blueberry hoisin glaze; or a trio of dips comprising green goddess, summer baba ghanoush, and pesto hummus alongside fresh carrots, sliced cucumbers, and warm naan bread.
One of our favorite starters is the flatbread with sausage and spicy honey. Adorned with fennel sausage, fresh mozzarella, garlic, and basil, the crunchy pie is then drizzled with fiery calabrese honey.
As for the main courses, the dinner menu offers a variety ranging from chicken Milanese, baked haddock, and steak frites to fish and chips, a quinoa power bowl, and lobster roll. The standout dish is the pan-seared salmon main coated with a sweet and spicy chili glaze served on a bed of coconut jasmine rice alongside baby bok choy.
If you’ve left room for dessert, the menu features vanilla crème brulee, a s’mores tartlet, rich chocolate cake, creamy cheesecake, and churro waffle sundae.
