According to Trip Advisor, Grand Wailea, a Waldorf Astoria Resort, is solidifying its reputation as an exceptional culinary destination in Hawai’i with five newly transformed dining establishments. Among these are the revamped Botero Lounge, Olivine—a chef-driven Italian eatery directed by Executive Chef Ryan Urig—and the resort’s celebrated flagship seafood venue, Humuhumunukunukuapua’a.
Aiming for even more excellence, Grand Wailea has announced a new culinary partnership with the acclaimed restaurant brand, Nobu. Set to open at the Maui resort in the summer of 2025, Nobu at Grand Wailea will expand the resort’s culinary offerings, marking the first Nobu establishment in the Hawaiian Islands.
The launch of Nobu at Grand Wailea is a pivotal part of the resort’s $350 million renovation project led by its owner, Blackstone Real Estate. The new Nobu will be located adjacent to the signature restaurant, Humuhumunukunukuapua’a, which recently made its comeback in 2023.
Nobu at Grand Wailea will encompass more than 13,000 square feet of dining space, both indoors and outdoors, featuring a dedicated sushi bar, complemented by breathtaking murals and expansive views of the Pacific Ocean. The menu will showcase classic Nobu creations such as the iconic Black Cod with Miso and Yellowtail Jalapeño, in addition to the esteemed sushi offerings the brand is known for.
Founded 30 years ago by Nobu Matsuhisa, Robert De Niro, and Meir Teper, Nobu has evolved into a distinctive hospitality brand, now commemorating its 30th anniversary. This influential brand has grown into a global phenomenon with 54 trendsetting restaurants and luxury hotel options, including Nobu Residences.
Nobu is renowned for its signature dishes and outstanding service, artfully blending traditional Japanese cuisine with Peruvian influences, which consistently attracts a global fan base. Its elegant ambiance and seasonal Omakase menus continue to captivate patrons worldwide.
