Nestled in the sought-after ‘Narrows’ of the Bahamas, The Beacon Hill Property is an extravagant two-and-a-half-acre waterfront haven graced by its own private beach. With a rich history dating back to the 1920’s and meticulously restored over a three-year period culminating in late 2023, this estate is nestled amidst lush tropical foliage just moments away from the Pink Sands beach. Accessed via a picturesque sandy lane, bordered by majestic coconut palms, this property holds a prime position on Harbour Island, offering a sanctuary to relax and indulge.
Far from the small yet bustling town, the estate boasts colonial-style architecture and furnishings, celebrating the natural surroundings and outdoor living. Expansive vistas stretch across the west bayside of Harbour Island, offering some of the most breathtaking sunsets imaginable.
Encompassing 12,000 sq. ft. of Island-style design, the private retreat comprises five distinctive buildings (main residence, guest villa, separate master suite, pool building, and dock house) and features 300 ft of bay side waterfront. The Beacon Hill Property’s Bahamian character has been restored, elevating it to meet the expectations of modern enthusiasts, following its prior ownership by Regine, the self-proclaimed ‘Queen of the Night’. The property accommodates five king suites, one queen room, nine bathrooms, and is complemented by three kitchens, two bars, and a gym—ideal for various group gatherings.
After passing the entrance flanked by two magnificent white stone frogs, a drive through oversized pandanus and lush trees leads you into this paradisiacal retreat. Access to the main residence is granted via a bridge spanning a colossal aquarium, creating an almost moat-like entryway. Surrounded by flourishing gardens and expansive turquoise waters, the main residence spans approximately 5,000 sq. ft. and welcomes guests with an open floor plan, inviting in island breezes with doors opening to the 80-foot long west veranda and east.
“Our goal when designing The Beacon Hill Property was to seamlessly blend modern conveniences with Bahamian charm, much of the inspiration was drawn from the Pink Sands Hotel when I initially visited Harbour Island in the late 1990’s,” said owner/architect Lawrence Dawson.
The separate but interconnected master suite bedroom is expansive and features a grand spa bathroom adorned in floor-to-ceiling marble. The bedroom itself is exceptionally generous and opens out to the private veranda affectionately known as “snor-a-torium”.
A detached guest villa perched high within the gardens boasts a graceful veranda offering panoramic views and a peaceful retreat. Adjacent to the main residence, it offers two spacious suites, planter-style armchairs, and mahogany louvers. Along the southern stretch of the property, the pool building commands stunning views over the bayside and features a large heated and ‘cooled pool’ for sipping a cocktail as the sun sets. Here, beneath gently swaying palm trees, guests can recline on poolside beds and immerse themselves in a dreamy, ethereal atmosphere. Equipped with full kitchen amenities, a well-stocked bar, and ample seating, the pool building sets the stage for poolside revelry and evening gatherings.
A notable feature of the estate is The Pink Gazebo, an iconic landmark on Harbour Island. Perched atop a hill, it offers a serene space for contemplation or observing dolphins and manatees playing in the bay. Steps from this peaceful spot lead down to the private dock, dock house, the water terrace, and the private beach.
While seclusion is paramount on the estate, Dunmore Town is just a brief four-minute golf cart ride away, bustling with bars, restaurants, and shops. Accessing Beacon Hill is a seamless experience as flights land at Eleuthera North Airport (just one hour from Miami by plane), followed by a 10-minute transfer via water taxi to The Beacon Hill Property’s private dock.
