Da LaPosta’s Authentic Italian Cuisine Presents a Fantastic Opportunity to Explore This Residential Zone in Massachusetts

Instead of just thinking about Boston’s North End for exceptional Italian meals, a genuine dining destination in Newton, Massachusetts, exists that is setting new standards for the neighboring communities.

The master Pizzaiolo and proprietor, Mario LaPosta, set out to transform the culinary landscape in the enchanting Newtonville village when he founded da LaPosta in 2021. LaPosta brings decades of his personal culinary knowledge to the suburbs, gained through education in Rome and Campania, the homeland of his family.

During the last twenty years, he has refined his pizza-making skills by offering wood-fired pizzas. In addition to creating some of the most inventive pizzas, he has also developed his own naturally fermented sourdough starter called Farino da LaPosta, crafted in partnership with Keith Giusto of Central Milling Company in Utah and Petaluma, CA.

The venue provides numerous seating choices at the bar or in the primary dining area. Moreover, a pet-friendly outdoor space offers a delightful atmosphere for al fresco dining to enjoy the brief warm days typical of New England.

A trip to da LaPosta would not be truly satisfying without relishing their freshly baked, incredibly tender focaccia bread served with Campania olive oil for dipping.

We strongly suggest trying their house-made creamy ricotta to accompany the bread.

In spite of the unexpected blend of Sardinian orange honey, Sicilian oregano, sea salt, and olive oil, it manages to offer a wonderful combination of sweet, savory, and captivating flavors.

Remarkable starters incorporate Funghi Marinati, a seasonal mix of mushrooms served in a garlic and herb sauce.

Make sure not to miss the eggplant parmigiana starter: multiple layers of fresh eggplant matched with fresh mozzarella and pecorino in a zesty tomato sauce.

If you prefer a traditional choice, the lightly fried calamari, a familiar favorite, is accompanied by a flavorful lemon aioli.

Other appetizers feature antipasto, charred Spanish octopus, and Nonna’s beef meatballs in a pomodoro sauce with smoked ricotta.

Don’t forget to relish one of da LaPosta’s distinctive pizzas. You can either customize a pie with toppings like fennel sausage, pepperoni, or Gaeta olives, or opt for their classics such as the simple Margherita with fresh mozzarella, tomato, and basil.

Other popular pizzas include Bianca with fig marmellata, lardo, pecorino, and arugula; La Romagna with green tomatoes, smoked mozzarella, prosciutto, arugula, Grana Padano, and aceto balsamico; and Boscaiola topped with fresh mozzarella, toasted tomato, speck, Hen of the Woods mushrooms, and caciocavallo.

We particularly relish their Meatball pizza, a delightful fusion of fresh ricotta alongside beef meatballs in a zesty tomato sauce.

Enjoy comfort food like never before, especially when paired with an Aperol spritz.

Regarding main courses, their Insta-worthy chicken parmigiana is one of the most generous servings you may come across. Tender and succulent chicken, partially de-boned, lightly fried, garnished with fresh mozzarella, and served with a generous portion of wood-roasted broccoli rabe.

Another irresistible dish that we are eagerly looking forward to sampling during our next visit is the potato gnocchi and mushroom ragu with bufala butter and marsala.

If you haven’t left room for dessert, the welcoming staff will happily prepare a selection of Mom’s tiramisu or Italian cookies for you to savor at home.

Da LaPosta is located at 825 Washington Street in Newtonville, Massachusetts.
