Positioned at the junction of Colorado Avenue and Brand Boulevard, and acting as one end of The Americana mall, Chef Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak boasts a spacious and airy design enhanced by a modern dark wood atmosphere, a comprehensive bar area, round beige leather booths, and a unified indoor/outdoor patio.
This year commemorates the 10th anniversary of Bourbon Steak. Earlier this month, on August 15th, the venue held a unique dinner to celebrate their decade as one of the premier steakhouses in Los Angeles.
Bourbon Steak is Mina’s 18th venue, offering a menu that includes classic Mina favorites such as the lobster pot pie, grass-fed steaks, and duck fat fries served with three different sauces, as well as distinctive selections like duck spring rolls, and Ahi tartare paired with Asian pear and pine nuts. They also offer a traditional Petrosian Caviar service and tableside presentations for their famous lobster pot pie, Japanese whiskey, and bourbon tastings.
New to the autumn menu is the hearty lobster mezzaluna featuring Calabrian chili, colatura, braised fennel, and breadcrumbs. Among starters, the creative take on the wedge salad presented in smaller manageable lettuce cups filled with blue cheese, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, red onions, and buttermilk ranch dressing was outstanding and a fantastic way to start the meal. The lamb kebobs accompanied by a rich yogurt sauce were equally enjoyable.
We savored a hefty 16-ounce bone-in Cowboy ribeye and Mina’s signature half-roasted Mary’s chicken served with spring vegetables, carrot puree, and chicken jus.
For dessert, we treated ourselves to the luxurious 24K Molten Chocolate Cake Sundae crowned with Luxardo cherries, vanilla bean ice cream, and Valrhona chocolate, the Bourbon Steak Candy Bar made with a dark chocolate brownie, peanut butter ganache, and peanuts, and the Brulee Basque Cheesecake adorned with fresh and roasted strawberries.
The fare at Bourbon Steak consistently surpasses expectations. The service is equally exceptional each time I visit. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between comfort and sophistication, and the staff always greets us like family. This is why I consider Bourbon Steak to be the top steakhouse in the Los Angeles area.
