“Celebrate Día De Los Muertos in Grandeur at Punta Mita’s Four Seasons”

Perched above the Pacific Ocean, the luxurious Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita is gearing up to celebrate Día de los Muertos. The annual Catrinas Fest will unfold over three vibrant days, from November 1 to 3, 2024. This event will feature exclusive dining experiences, themed cocktail parties, cooking demonstrations led by renowned chefs and mixologists, and a host of cultural activities that cater to both families and individuals of all ages.

“We take pride in honoring Día de Los Muertos through a culinary exploration of Mexico’s traditions, paired with cultural experiences and workshops rooted in the country’s rich heritage,” expressed John O’Sullivan, Regional Vice President and General Manager at Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita. “We are honored to host exceptional Mexican talent for this special weekend, offering our guests an in-depth immersion into the vibrant cuisine that beautifully complements a series of engaging programs designed to celebrate life, family, and togetherness.”

    Immerse Yourself in the Celebrations

Executive Chef Jorge Gonzales from Dos Catrinas will curate an array of traditional Mexican cuisine alongside notable visiting chefs, including Chef Richard Sandoval, James Beard Semi-Finalist Carlos Galana from the Michelin-starred Guzina Oaxaca in Mexico City, and Chef Jose Miguel Garcia from Espantapájaros and La Barraca, also based in Mexico City.

In addition to the resort’s regular offerings, various onsite dining venues will present unique culinary events. Kick off the holiday weekend on November 1 with Tertulia Night featuring a multi-station dinner at Dos Catrinas. Talented makeup artists will be available to apply traditional Día de los Muertos face paint, while stilt walkers and local musicians will add to the festivities.

The following night will highlight a Barbacoa demonstration on Cuevas Beach at 6:30 p.m. This indigenous method involves slowly cooking an entire animal in a pit oven, with the resort’s chefs showcasing the meat preparation process, including marination with agave leaves and garnishing with onion and cilantro. Guests will enjoy complimentary tastings, with additional main course options available for those dining at Dos Catrinas.

    Día de Muertos Dining Experience

On Saturday, November 2, guests at Dos Catrinas can reserve a spot for an elaborate multi-course dinner. Our guest chefs will feature their distinctive dishes, showcasing their culinary artistry, while live music will provide an inviting atmosphere.

    Clase Azul Mez Bar Takeover

After the dinner on November 2, guests are encouraged to relax with a nightcap at the bustling MEZ bar. Celebrated Mexican tequila brand Clase Azul will add festive decorations and a special signature Día de Los Muertos bottle to the experience. Patrons can enjoy an array of innovative cocktails and sample from a selection of 70 different types of mezcal, with live music enhancing the lively ambiance.

    La Vida Brunch

Indulge in Sunday Brunch at Dos Catrinas on November 3 before you head home. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., this lavish brunch buffet will feature traditional barbacoa, chilaquiles, a raw bar, Mexican pastries, freshly made omelets and pancakes, alongside the signature Bloody Catrinas morning cocktail. A marimba duo will provide live entertainment throughout the brunch.

    Culinary Classes

During the festive weekend, the resort will offer educational sessions led by the culinary team, providing guests with the opportunity to learn how to prepare traditional Mexican dishes in their own homes.

    Cultural Experiences

The resort will also present a variety of culturally-themed activities at its Cultural Center, guided by the dedicated Cultural Concierge. These workshops celebrate the holiday and allow guests to engage in traditional crafts, such as creating a Catrina headpiece, participating in makeup sessions, decorating sugar skulls, or making cold porcelain skulls.
