The superior aspect than summer in Massachusetts is outdoor dining provided with a seaside vista. When the temperatures begin to climb and the pleasant weather beckons, patrons move outdoors to bask in the sunshine.
Nowhere is more ideal for this purpose than at Victory Point situated along the picturesque boardwalk in Quincy’s Marina Bay.
Opt for a waterside table outside on the marina with a view of the harbor. There is an abundance of outdoor seating so securing one of the sought-after tables should not be too hard. An open-air bar could also serve as a great spot to have a drink and a quick appetizer while observing the planes depart and arrive from the nearby Logan Airport.
The waterside eatery showcases all the traditional New England seafood essentials, but the true highlights here are the genuine Italian specialties crafted by Executive Chef Pino Maffeo. Certainly, you can indulge in a cup of rich clam chowder brimming with potatoes and fresh clams, or a Maine lobster roll presented on a toasted brioche bun with delightful lemon aioli, but why not sample a dish with a bit of flair?
Victory Point presents a splendid array of raw bar selections including local oysters on the half shell and large shrimp cocktail served with zesty cocktail sauce. The mussels in a white wine sauce are indispensable, paired with a serving of their homemade bread baked fresh daily. Crispy on the outside and soft inside, the bread is the ideal complement for savoring every bit of the irresistible sauce.
The standout main course here was the cod Milanese.
A piece of fresh cod was gently flattened, lightly fried, and topped with a simple yet taste-packed mix of fresh tomatoes, red onion, cucumbers mixed with extra virgin olive oil and oregano.
If you are craving a tomato-based sauce, do not overlook their traditional penne Bolognese. A generous portion of pasta is coated in a lavish Bolognese sauce of pork, veal, and beef. Other distinctive dishes comprise veal saltimbocca, cod Puttanesca, grilled swordfish pesto, fritto misto, lobster ravioli, and seafood pie.
The group behind Victory Point also manage a pizza place (Boardwalk Pizza) and gelato outlet (Donato’s Gelato), both just a stone’s throw away from the eatery. Set aside some space for a scoop of sorbet, ice cream, gelato, or soft serve. Rest assured, you won’t regret it.
