Devotees of Alfa Romeo might anticipate an impending transformation. With most automakers nearing their electric vehicle roadmaps, conventional powertrains will soon be a thing of the past.
Consequently, production cars that still rely on gasoline could become highly desirable to collectors. Reports suggest that the upcoming lineup of Giulia EVs will cater to a diverse range of preferences.
The chosen foundation is likely Stellantis Group’s adaptable STLA Large platform. It offers compatibility with a wide array of battery and motor setups to deliver a range of up to 500 miles on a single charge.
While nothing is definitive at present, the Italian automaker teases three variants with significant performance improvements as you ascend the ranks.
The base model is rumored to offer 350 horsepower, while the Veloce edition elevates it to 800 horses.
On the other end of the spectrum is the Giulia Quadrifoglio, expected to exceed 1,000 horsepower. With approximately two more years until the official debut, these figures remain open to adjustment.
Sibling brand Maserati is also working on a high-performance luxury EV – the Granturismo Folgore. Some speculate that Alfa Romeo might adopt the three-motor setup from this model as well.
One motor could drive the front axle, while the other two would power each rear wheel. It is possible that torque vectoring will also be implemented.
Recognizing the pressing issue of charging times for consumers, Alfa Romeo is addressing the concerns effectively.
The Giulia EV will feature an 800V system that facilitates rapid battery recharging. It seems the manufacturer has more environmentally friendly models in the pipeline, yet specifics have not been disclosed as of now.
