Archiproducts and Alcantara have once more united to develop a unique exhibition inspired by water for interior decoration, currently showcased at the Studiopepe architecture firm located on Via Tortona in Milan and accessible to the public.
Revealed during the recent Milan Design Week 2024, “AQUA. A Design Exploration” will be open for public viewing throughout the next year. Alcantara and Archiproducts had previously collaborated on the creation of “Terra. Inspired by Earth” for Milan Design Week 2023.
The items displayed in this year’s exhibition, which encompass furniture, drapes, wall treatments, and ceiling designs, have been meticulously designed to evoke multiple elements of water. They feature shades that vary from cool white, gentle aqua-green, and light blue to vibrant ultra-marine, electric blue, and profound dark oceanic colors.
Groundbreaking methods such as micro-dot foil-refined pleating, prints, and dimensional embossing have been applied to transform Alcantara’s “Made in Italy” material into tones that mirror the spirit of oceans, fresh-water rivers, and swimming pools.
During Milan Design Week, Alcantara also participated in two other notable events at Triennale Milano and the ADI Design Museum.
At Triennale Milano, an exhibition presented art pieces infused with Alcantara, inspired by visual artists, fashion designers, industrial designers, filmmakers, architects, and musicians, featuring renowned personalities such as Alberto Biasi, Zhang Chun Hong, Qin Feng, Yuri Ancarani, Nanda Vigo, Lorenzo Vitturi, and Soundwalk Collective.
Additionally, Alcantara’s special showcase “Driving into Endless Customizations” emphasized the application of Alcantara material in automotive interiors, including dashboards, doors, and seating at the ADI Design Museum, coinciding with the Car Design Award event.
Carlo Ammirati, Alcantara’s Sustainability Director and Innovation Manager, participated in discussions on “Inhabiting the Car” as part of the Car Design Award program at the museum. Among the other panelists were Rossella Guasco, vice president of C&M Design for Stellantis Europe; Francesca Sangalli, head of Color & Trim and Concept & Strategy at SEAT/CUPRA/SEAT MO’ Design (VW Group); and Stefano Piontini, partner at Vudafieri Saverino Partners Shanghai.
