A Tribute to the Prosperous Shipbuilding Legacy at a Maine Inn

The Cambria Portland Downtown – Old Port inn has made a splash ever since its grand opening in the historic Old Port district of Portland. This locality boasts a storied past of foundries and ship construction.

This boutique inn, rising six stories, debuted last autumn and features 102 rooms of various sizes, ranging from standard accommodations to opulent suites. They also offer pet-welcoming lodgings, so if you’re arriving with your four-legged companion, be sure to inform them in advance.

Nestled adjacent to Shipyard Brewing Company in the Old Port enclave of downtown Portland, this lively inn caters to visitors with contemporary conveniences. Guests are welcomed by cheerful valets who guide them to the elevator on the fourth floor for check-in.

Upon registration, the receptionists will inquire if you wish to avail room maintenance during your stay, and this choice will be recorded in your profile.

In close proximity to the front desk, there is a compact area where you can procure essential nibbles and beverages.

In the evenings, complimentary cookies are on hand for patrons in the foyer.

The venue provides complimentary wifi for all visitors, and the technology-savvy rooms are furnished with Bluetooth mirrors in the luxurious bathrooms.

Our room, which specifically welcomed pets, showcased a king-sized bed, a spacious work desk, and a coffee nook. Additionally, there was a cozy seat by the window for moments of relaxation.

An impressive mural embellishing the wall behind the bed pays homage to the historical shipbuilding legacy in the region.

ALTO Terrace Bar + Kitchen, the on-site eatery of the inn, serves up breakfast and dinner every day.

On the fourth level, you’ll discover this chic industrial area featuring a grand sliding barn door that leads to a smaller space available for private functions.

Be sure to sample the local Maine shellfish, presented in a delectable broth of tomato, chorizo, shallot, wine, and garlic. As for main course selections, the seared scallops served on creamy risotto with asparagus, blistered tomatoes, and grated parmesan offer a hearty delight. The grilled swordfish steak is elegantly prepared with lobster and herb-infused butter, served with rice pilaf and haricot verts.

Portland is a city conducive to walking exploration and can be easily navigated on foot. Commence or culminate your visit with a visit to Shipyard Brewing Company, situated nearby the inn. They showcase an array of brews, ranging from timeless American Pale Ale to seasonal favorites such as Summer and Pumpkinhead Ales.

The Cambria Portland Downtown – Old Port is conveniently situated at 25 Hancock Street in Portland, Maine.
